Russia will spend about $ 1 billion for the construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur region, said Vladimir Popovkin, the head of Roskosmos, the Federal Space Agency of Russia.

Vostochny Spaceport (Roscosmos)
The Vostochny Cosmodrome is a planned Russian spaceport, to be located at 51 degrees north in the Amur region, in the Russian Far East. It is intended to reduce Russia’s dependency on the Baikonur Cosmodrome, which is located in Kazakhstan. Construction is expected to be completed in 2018.
