This Hubble image shows NGC 3156, a large lenticular galaxy some 73 million light-years away in the constellation of Sextans. The color image includes optical and near-infrared observations from Hubble’s Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) and Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instruments. It is based on data obtained through three filters. The color results from assigning different hues to each monochromatic image associated with an individual filter.
